CastleSchwerin
The castle of Schwerin, located in romantic surroundings on an island in the lake of Schwerin, is known as one of the foremost examples of historicism within Europe. Its, up till now, preserved appearance has been established during the latest renovation during the 1900's, including four houses from 15th - 17th century. The 3 floors castle museum is located in these seaward buildings.
Grinding mill Schwerin
The wheels of the water pumping station at the Faulen lake have been turning since 1705, where they in the mid 18th century started with the processing of large rocks. As ducal mill produced the mill mainly table tops, window sills or steps for the castle of the Duke. The processing of rocks in the mill ended, upon completion of the castle in Schwerin in 1857. In the following decaded the water mill operated as a woolen mill, after which it was closed in the early 20th century. After this the water wheel stood still as well. When the mill became used as a home two decades later, the mill was brought to live again. In 1983 one started to consider the historical value of the mill. The exhibition area with the reconstructed art of the 18th century was re-opened, for the 825 year anniversary of Schwerin in 1985.
Castle Ludwigslust
The builder J.J. Busch built the castle from 1772 till 1776 as home for the Duke of Mecklenburg in Baroque style. Particularly interesting are the "Golden hall" and the ballroom with one decoration made out of paper mache.
Castle Güstrow
At the border of the old town of Güstrow is one of Northern Europe's most important Renaissance castle located that surprises you with its southern charme. Duke Ulrich von Mecklenburg built here a manor house, to replace a medieval castle from 1558.

The season often starts on April 1st. In the oven bread based on an old recipe will be baked, as one of the regular events. Home evenings, book readings and barbecues are also often organized. Market day is organized twice per year (Sunday after Pentecose and on the third Sunday in August).
Burg Neustadt - Glewe
The old house, re-built in the 18th century, was subject to many changes of use during the following centuries. For example, a technical school was established in 1882. The castle is complety renovated since 2006. On the first floor of the 'new house' you can find exhibitions of the castle, local history and special exhibitions of various themes. During a tour through the castle are the dungeon tower, guard and military, and the living room open to visitors. The 'Hofstube', with wall paintings from Gothic and Renaissance style and a medieval warm air heating, is of special importance.
